The best preventative health tool is an adequate amount of nutritious food. For people living in poverty, empty cupboards and bare refrigerators are a part of everyday life. This chronic lack of food, combined with a lack of nutrition education and the stress of living in poverty, has kept many of our neighbors in poor health.
There are a few schools in our area that now have their own food pantry to help with our homeless students. If you are interesed in helping, or starting a food pantry in one of our schools you can call the school district at 775-348-0200, or the school of your choice to start the project rolling.
